Reaxis® C154T - Stannous Chloride, Dihydrate/Blend
Request A Sample Download The Technical Data SheetOverview
REAXIS® C154T (Stannous Chloride Dihydrate), is a versatile high metal content stannous inorganic tin that is used in specialty chemical applications where a free-flowing solid is required. REAXIS® C154T consists of stannous chloride dihydrate, known as REAXIS® C154, with talc and is processed to ensure a free-flowing solid with a controlled particle size distribution which acts to minimize the negative effects of temperature and hygroscopicity. REAXIS® C154T is a tin catalyst produced to the highest quality standards, meeting A.C.S. specifications. Stability/free-flowability can be enhanced via blends with various products including silica, talc, and numerous solid resins. Similar products include REAXIS® C154S, REAXIS® C154P and REAXIS® C154S+. Specialty blends and related products with tailored particle sizes can be offered upon request.

Applications
Common end-use chemistries and applications for the active inorganic tin component, REAXIS® C154 and its variant stannous chloride products include esterifications, thermoplastic elastomers, personal care, surface finishing, oil well simulation (acidizing additive), corrosion inhibition, and glass as a silver mirroring and color modifier. REAXIS® C154T is a tin catalyst primarily used in hybrid thermoplastic elastomers formulations, specifically in the production of EPDM and polyethylene-based thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs). Other applications include personal care products and use as a reducing agent.
Reactivity
Due to its high tin concentration, small ligand, and inorganic Sn (II) nature, REAXIS® C154T is a very active catalyst and reducing agent. Given its inorganic tin nature, REAXIS® C154T is stable at high reaction temperatures typical of many reactions. In addition, REAXIS® C154T is characterized by a narrow particle size distribution resulting in ideal blending with other solid raw materials.
Package & Storage
- 25 kg (55lb) Plastic Pails
REAXIS® C154T should be stored in the original packaging. The container should be closed tightly after each use to maximize shelf life. Characteristic of most inorganic tins (Sn(II)), the primary cause of instability would be oxidation. Additionally, REAXIS® C154T has a low melting point (38C)and is hygroscopic.
