REAXIS® E140P (Potassium Stannate) is a Sn (IV)-based inorganic tin chemical. In addition to Potassium Stannate, common synonyms include Potassium Hexahydroxy Stannate and Potassium Stannate Trihydrate, as well as dipotassium, tin(4+),hexahydroxide and Stannate (Sn(OH)62-), potassium (1:2), (OC-6-11)-. REAXIS® E140P contains approximately 40% tin. REAXIS® E140P is produced such that residual metal contaminants are controlled, resulting in a high-purity end product. Residual metal concentrations present in REAXIS® E140P are lower compared to the standard grade potassium stannate trihydrate product, REAXIS® E140. Alternatives to REAXIS® E140P also include the sodium stannate grades REAXIS® E144 and REAXIS® E144P. Liquid grades of REAXIS® E140P can be produced upon request. REAXIS® E140P is present on a wide range of international regulatory lists, making it a great candidate for multinational product development and deployment.

REAXIS® E140P is a stannate that is used in a wide range of specialty chemical applications including glass, surface finishing, stabilization of hydrogen peroxide, and electrolyte additives for battery applications. Given its lower residual metals content, REAXIS® E140P is primarily used as a stabilizer for hydrogen peroxide. Stabilization takes place via the complexation of destabilizing residual metals, resulting in extended storage stability. In surface finishing applications, REAXIS® E140P is used as an alkaline electroplating additive in high-speed plating operations given its ideal solubility. Related applications include the coating of automotive pistons and coin minting. As a stannate, REAXIS® E140P can be used as an additive in electrolytes in metal-air batteries to minimize and control electrode corrosion/passivation/fouling.
REAXIS® E140P has a reactivity characterized by its high tin content and its inorganic tin (as Sn(IV)) nature. Like all inorganic tin products produced by Reaxis, the concentration of the active tin species, versus the inactive forms, is maximized. In terms of functionality, REAXIS® E140P acts as both a good chelating agent for a wide variety of metals and an efficient tin metal plating agent.
REAXIS® E140P should be stored in the original packaging. The container should be closed tightly after each use to maximize shelf life. This product does have a tendency to occasionally clump. This occurrence does not affect the quality/reactivity of the product.
