Stannous Chloride
Stannous Chloride products are one of the most commonly used inorganic tin products in personal care applications, as dental additives. This is due to the rigorous FDA testing of both REAXIS® C162 (Stannous Chloride Anhydrous) and REAXIS® C154 (Stannous Chloride Dihydrate). Both of these chemicals are listed in the FDA’s Food Chemical Codex and can be used in both direct and indirect food applications.
In addition to the two standard solid grades mentioned above, Reaxis supplies a wide range of blends and variants on these chemicals, such as REAXIS® C154T (Stannous Chloride Dihydrate Blended with Talc) and REAXIS® C154S (Stannous Chloride Dihydrate Blended with Silica) that find use in personal care applications. Reaxis can also supply high-purity solutions produced from A.C.S. grade stannous chloride dihydrate including REAXIS® S72 and REAXIS® S50.
Inorganic Tin Catalysts
Ester-based nonionic surfactants are commonly used as emollient additives for skincare products. Due to their low toxicity and good catalytic functionality, inorganic tin catalysts are used as esterification catalysts.
Common Reaxis products used in these specialty chemical applications include REAXIS® C160 (Stannous Oxalate), REAXIS® C162 (Stannous Chloride Anhydrous) and REAXIS® C188 (Stannous Oxide). Reaxis has also developed a line of inorganic tin products that contain biobased ligands.
Hydrogen Peroxide Stabilization Additives
Hydrogen Peroxide is a common additive for personal products, with use cases including acting as a dyeing agent in hair care products and a whitening agent in dental products. Hydrogen peroxide additives are necessary as stabilizers ensuring optimal shelf life for the final products.
Stannates are used as part of the stabilizer packages, functioning as complexing agents for residual metals that can catalyze the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. Our stannate products include both solid and liquid grade grades, including:
Potassium Stannate
Among our products, the two commercial grades of potassium stannate commonly used as metal complexing agents in the stabilization of hydrogen peroxide include crystalline-grade REAXIS® E140 and REAXIS® E140P.
REAXIS® E140P is most commonly used in these applications given its relatively lower metal impurity content (mainly tramp metals contained in tin metal) compared to REAXIS® E140. Potassium stannate can be supplied in various user-defined tin and residual metal concentrations liquid grades.
Sodium Stannate
We offer two commercial grades of sodium stannate used as metal complexing agents in the stabilization of hydrogen peroxide, including crystalline grade REAXIS® E144 and REAXIS® E144P.
REAXIS® E144P is most commonly used in these applications, given its relatively lower metal impurity content, mainly tramp metals contained in tin metal, compared to REAXIS® E144. Sodium stannate can be supplied as low residual metal liquid form as REAXIS® E144P-22 and various user-defined tin and residual metal concentrations liquid grades.
