Overview
REAXIS® E144 (Sodium Stannate), also known as Hexahydroxy Stannate or Sodium Stannate Trihydrate, is a Sn (IV)-based inorganic tin chemical. The standard crystalline grade of REAXIS® E144 contains approximately 44% tin. This sodium stannate product is produced to control residual metal contaminants, resulting in a high-purity end product commonly used as a plating agent or a complexing agent. Alternative sodium stannate grades for REAXIS® E144 include liquid grade REAXIS® E10 and the higher-purity REAXIS® E144P. Additional alternatives to REAXIS® E144 would be the potassium grades REAXIS® E140 and REAXIS® E140P. Sodium stannate is present on a wide range of international regulatory lists.

Applications
REAXIS® E144 is a stannate used in a wide range of applications including surface finishing, stabilization of hydrogen peroxide, and electrolyte additives for battery applications. In surface finishing applications, Sodium Stannate is used as an alkaline electroplating additive in high-speed plating operations given its ideal solubility. Related applications include the coating of automotive pistons and coin minting. Sodium stannate is used as a stabilizing agent for hydrogen peroxide via the complexation of destabilizing residual metals, thus resulting in extended storage stability. As a stannate, Sodium Stannate can be used in electrolytes in metal-air batteries to minimize and control electrode corrosion/passivation/fouling.
Reactivity
Sodium stannate’s reactivity is characterized by its high tin content, species of tin as Sn (IV) present, and solubility. Like all inorganic tin products produced by Reaxis, the concentration of the active tin species versus the inactive forms is maximized. In terms of functionality, REAXIS® E144 is a stannate that acts as a good chelating agent for a wide variety of metals as well as an efficient tin metal plating agent.
Package & Storage
- 25kg (55lb) Pails
REAXIS® E144 should be stored in the original packaging. The container should be closed tightly after each use to maximize shelf life. This product does have the tendency to occasionally clump. This occurrence does not affect the quality/reactivity of the product.
